A Question For All Members - Web browsers
« on: February 26, 2012, 11:51:48 AM »
Hi all,

This is the first of a series of polls that I would like to run. This one is to identify which web browsers you use. It is quick and dirty! This information is important to us when designing websites because sometimes something will appear fine in one browser and will look absolute rubbish in another.

There more sophisticated ways of doing this without bothering the membership but I thought that it might draw attention to the fact that there are many browsers available.

Indeed, there are many more than those listed. All have their own strengths. If anything annoys you about your current browser (probably one that was installed when you purchased your computer) why not download and install another and take it for a test drive?

Note that you can select more than one browser if you in fact uses more than one, say on machines with different operating systems.

You might want to link to this in General Discussions as there's more traffic there!  :P

If everyone checks their unread messages, it will be there for them!

Thanks for all the feedback!

Can the two members who say they uses an 'other' browser, please identify which browsers they are, please? It may be relevant in the future.

Just a point Bob , I have been trying to look on the Ryanair site today and was told that my browser is old and I need to upgrade to firefox, Google chrome etc . etc.

I use internet explorer as do many others judging by the poll count .......can you throw any light on this to an illiterate PC user .

John,

If you are using Internet Explorer, what version is it? If you keep up to date with the upgrades, it shouldn't be a problem. I am assuming that you are using a windows based machine. If so, what version of Windows are you running? I cannot believe that a site like Ryanair would try to influence what browser you use. They may want Flash installed but apart from that, I find it strange.
