Rob,

Do you have any other images, perhaps showing the leaves, stems etc? Is it a cultivated flower? (I can't find it in my books on wild flowers.)

If it wasn't for the fact it is a single flower, it looks very much like a white oleander flower. We have one in our garden.

I'm going back to try to find it again in Benitses - get some more details - leaves, attitude etc. I have a couple of near things, but the colour of the centre is the stumbling block.

2+ inches or so - can't really remember as it was taken along with many others.

I don't think it would be poinsettia as they have bracts, not flowers, which are modified leaves. This one definitely has flower petals.

I don't think it's a rock rose either as they have a different centre to Rob's flower.

Buy hey! What do I know!

I think we need some more information on this one Rob!

Give yourself a pat on the back John. You must be the most, in fact the only, belligerent person on this Forum.

What I said to warrant your remark I have no idea.

In case you don't know what belligerent means  -

Definition:   nasty, argumentative

Synonyms:    aggressive, antagonistic, at loggerheads, battling, bellicose, cantankerous, combative, contentious, fierce, fighting, flip, have a bone to pick, have chip on shoulder, have it in for, hostile, hot-tempered, mean, militant, on the outs, ornery, pugnacious, quarrelsome, scrappy, truculent.

You tick every box!

I have checked Potentilla and it is similar, but I am going to return to where I took the photograph to get more info regarding leaves, stems etc.
I have also had various other suggestions as to what it might be on other forums and I'm looking into them too.
