Hoopoes
« on: March 26, 2014, 01:09:35 PM »
This is something of a collaboration between Tricia and I!!

This morning whilst walking the big dog on our land, I disturbed a pair of hoopoes that flew up, one of which settled on a fence post. I dragged a very disconsolate Jake back to the house and shouted out to Tricia to get her camera.

She managed to fire off a few shots of the bedraggled bird which I have done my best to process for her. They were taken at great distance with her compact camera on 10x zoom.

This is the second time that I have seen Hoopoes on our land in the past week.

As an aside, if you are interested you may wish to check out another post where I have applied an effect to these images using a program called MachineryHDR HERE

Photographers are violent people. First they frame you, then they shoot you, then they hang you on the wall.

The Grocer,

It was obviously a lot sunnier than it was this morning! Aren't they great looking birds?

They are great looking birds although these were looking a bit sorry for themselves and more than a little bedraggled as it was raining at the time!
Think before you speak! If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

These birds seem very keen on our garden now that it's strimmed. I managed to photograph this one just before it poured!.
