Good morning all!

Just come back from doing some shopping. Thought that as it was carnival week and there are balloons for sale in the supermarket, I would buy 2 packets and do an experiment with homemade Waspinators!

There wasn't a price on the packets but I thought, how expensive can 2 packets of 8 balloons be?

Stopped off, as you do, and had coffee and a pie as it looks like the Adonis 4 may be busy today. Very nice the pie was too!

Now I'm home. Just looked at the receipt from the supermarket and the balloons were 9.20 for the two packets! That's about 7.80! That can't be right surely to Gods.

They are going back. It would be cheaper to buy a Waspinator!

Trisa

This story now takes a twist from the tale of a pair of inept shoppers to one of failing customer service!

I returned to Dimitra, Acharavi today and asked the duty manager, a personal friend, to check the price of said balloons. He ran one pack through the scanner and announced that they were indeed 4.60 per pack of 8 balloons. I pointed out that this was crazy to which he pointed out that they were 'Disney balloons'. I looked over my shoulder and pointed out that the condoms displayed there were cheaper!

A credit note was written out and off I went to purchase a few bottles of Pepsi and the like. The bill came to 4.40. I handed over the credit note. Consternation! The check out girl could not give change for the cover note! As the queue was building up, I retrieved the cover note and paid cash. I was told that I had to bring the note back on Tuesday and use it then!

I returned to the duty manager who confirmed that this was the case. It had to be Tuesday. Wednesday would be too late as they were only allowed to keep credit notes open for a limited period! I nearly asked for the balloons back but instead walked out the shop chuckling.

It is yet another case of businesses failing to learn. I always used to tell OTE that they did not have to invent new equipment to provide a better telecom service as most of the equipment had already been invented somewhere in the world.

I am amazed that major retailers, of which Dimitra / Markato are one, cannot learn from their local competitors. Were a branch of Lidl or AB to open in Acharavi, they would wipe the floor with them ... not to mention smaller outlets. I really don't want to see the demise of any business, large or small but sooner or later someone will realise that they can beat their competition. After all large businesses all started out small. I remember when Mr Cohen stared off his little shops and named them after his daughter, Tessa. They were grotty little shops! You would not say that about Tesco now.

Whereas I have sympathy with the small business, it is unforgivable for the larger chains to provide such an archaic service.

I feel better now that's off my chest!

I bet you do Bob--but---for how long ::)

As an aside-----a strip of 6 vouchers pooed through our letter box a few weeks ago.

Andrex toilet rolls--buy a four pack get 50p off.
But a 9 pack 50p off
this offer was for once a month starting in January and finishing in April I think-

I remember seeing Andex loo rolls in a shop  a pack of four rolls for 2,that'll do me I thought,as with my voucher they'll only cost me 1-50--a good price!

This particular shop is a subsidiary of Iceland a lot smaller but lots of good buys.
At the cash out, trolley laden,I put the Loo Rolls on the counter first and presented the cashier with my 50p off voucher----the cashier informed me that she couldn't accept it.

I asked why?I checked I'd not got the date wrong and presented it too soon---nope!

The cashier didn't know the reason why----sooooooooooo

As there was only one till open--she shouted accross to a colleague who was stacking the freezers--the conversation went some thing like this!

My cashier shouted---Ka leen why can't we take this wumuns vouchers?

Ka leen shouted back--wha vouchers

My cashier shouted back dhe Andrex vouchers

Ka leen shouted back---cos were a cheapo shop--so don't take anyin like tha.

Message loud and clear for every customer in the shop and not at the till.

I asked my cashier  why not--as I was sure the manufacturer would honour the voucher and redeem the shop with all of the 50p's

My cashier to  Ka leen ---------the womun sez we'll gerrour money back from Andrex

Ka leen--replied that's what we do---if the womun wants to use the voucher tell het to go and pay more for the Andrex in an uther shop---but tell er theelle be dearer there even with the 50p voucher

I promptly asked my cashier to remove the Andrex from my bill-------guess what my casheir said---

Ka leen  this womun doesn't want the Andex now

Ka leen shouted tell er sheeell be sorry.

My cashier---Ka leen---can ya cum and do a void on me till then.

I've not used spell checker as I might be tempted to remove my rendition of writing in a scouse accent :-[

So Maggy

How much was a 4 pack  Andrex toilet roll in the more expensive supermarket. With and without the 50p of.  ;D ;D

Just curious now.  I think in Co-Op where I live they are 2.39 so with 50p of that will be 1.89

Andrex 4 pack is currently 2.08 or 2 for 3.50 in Asda.

So tell Ka leen for a cheapo shop they were not that much cheaper... and Adsa take vouchers - however they arrive through your letterbox.

Ribena,
I'm afraid I have to agree with your children about the smells and the taste of food cooked in a slow cooker----erghhhhhhhhhhh thinks once again of dog poo!

I know they're convenient and useful to lots of people ----but a slow cooker is not for me  :'(

'Trisa,'cause the food inside it is cooked in lukewarm water would be thoughts on the matter ::)

My food does not smell of poo in the slowcooker!!!  I think it smells delicious!  Also, just as an aside the liquid in my slow cooker bubbles so it's not lukewarm!  *Puts on affronted face and looks for Adonis 1, 2, 3 or 4 to soothe my brow*

 ;) ;)

I think all of the Adonis's are being given too free a rein and might just start to take liberties in other departments :o  Thinking of course about their     S    L   O    W cooking skills of course ::)

Slow cookers make good Stifado and it certainly doesn't smell like poo when cooking. Maybe you should try that Ribena.

PS. Still using the old website recipe and works every time.

Baywatcher,I was only agreeing with Ribena's children as  they thought their dog had done something on the kitchen-the dog was innocent----the pong was the slow cooker :-X
