Loved reading these, thanks Maggy for starting and to everyone who contributed.

One of my favourite Christmas memories...I was about ten years old and pretty sure I had the Santa story sorted out, but didn't want to tell my parents and spoil the fun. I'd finally fallen asleep Christmas Eve, when my Dad  woke me up and told me to put on my warm jacket and come outside. We lived in rural Quebec, and the snow was piled high on each side of the road. It was quiet and very pretty, but I wondered what on earth we were doing out there, until I heard bells jingling. There he was in his red suit and hat, driving toward us in a sleigh drawn not by reindeer but by one sturdy horse. He waved and called out, probably Joyeux Noel, and slid by.
“Gradually the magic of the island settled over us as gently and clingingly as pollen.” G. Durrell

In Mum's defence, she always cooked an amazing Christmas dinner, bucks fizz or not!!!  I am nowhere near as good a cook...maybe I need to drink more!!  ;) ;)  (I'm not really helping myself, am I?!!!  ;D )
