Why is it always me
« on: May 12, 2016, 04:45:37 PM »
Or do  these calamities happen to others as well !!
I couldn't make them up if I tried!!

Our plan last night was to eat in the grill room in the village ,,,simple as that might sound !

Our routine is,,,Mr M goes up the hill ahead of me,by the time I reach the village he's brought the car down the hill and my lift is ready and waiting for me!

Easy ! Until I got into the passenger seat of the car,,,the tale then unfolded ,,,the power steering was not performing well!

Luckily for us there was a parking space opposite the grill room,,,,a place we have never used before!

Now ! I think  and know Mr M is a vary skilllfull and competent driver !

There is no way I would reverse into this place,,,I'm a chicken when it comes to going backwards!

And especially the very deep drainage  ditch along side of this narrow part of the road,,hi lighted with thick white lines !

I hopped out of the car (uses the worded hopped loosely )
Retrieved my crutches from the back seat, closed front and back door  and was ready to walk the few steps into the grill room just facing me!

As I've already stated this part of the road is a bit of a bottle neck,no passing places etc!

Unfortunately for me there was a lot of two way traffic passing this spot last night,,,vans, four wheeled drives and little tin cans of cars!

As soon as I thought it was safe to move another car appeared!

At last all clear!

I couldn't move!
I felt this pain in my left foot!

SODS law ,,it was my left foot  and my left leg that had recently had a new hip!!!

Why wouldn't my foot move???
I looked at Mr M who had his head out of the drivers window,,,,paying particular attention to tucking the car in as far as he could and avoiding the drainage ditch!!!!

Little did he know he was shunting the car over my left foot!
I can only compare my experience to the likes of ,,,,a cigarettes end being stubbed out on the ground!

I shouted to him to stop!
The engine noise and traffic noise meant he couldn't hear me!
A man came out of the new pharmacy,,saw my crutches and wanted to open the passenger door for me so that I could get into the car!!!

I eventually got Mr M's attention buy banging on the bonnet ,,,two people came running out of the grill room shouting to Mr M to stop moving the car!!!
After a few more shunts my foot was at last free!

I felt so sorry for Mr M !
He was ashen coloured once he'd realised what he'd done!

Helped into the grill room ,an ice pack waiting for my foot,,,

One customer asked if my hubby wanted a new wife!
The damage to my foot would have been a lot worse if the car would have been being driven forward instead off straightening it up!

I blamed myself for not moving away from the car quickly enough!
Mr M blamed himself for not checking I'de cleared the car,,,was concerned about the lack of power steering and judging the drainage ditch!

No real harm done!
My foot didn't even swell up !

Once everyone was convinced I didn't need any medical treatment four heads could be seen investigating things under the bonnet ,,,a few opinions on how to resolve  the problem ,,,my foot was soon forgotten about,,,except by one man who suggested I bound my foot in a vinegar soaked cloth ! :)

Sorry Maggy but I did laugh: luckily for you your foot seems to be ok. Hope the grill was nice as well.

Yes Davey ,I think it would have been a worse outcome ,but my foot was not driven completely over, just trapped and shuffled about on!
Imagine explaining that to our insurers,,, ::)

Glad no serious harm was done, Maggie, so you can enjoy your time on Corfu!

Maggy,

I am ashamed to say that I am still chuckling! I am so glad that you are okay. I bet poor Mr M was shaken up!

Oh my! 😯😯

I'm left wondering 'whatever next?'!!

I was pleased to read that no serious harm was done. It must have given you both a bit of a fright though.

I hope the rest of your holiday is exceptionally uneventful!
