Book swaps

Hi All ,

I read on average 2-3 books per week , summer and winter . I rely on our local book swap venues for new reading material , ours being the NEast . Wouldn't it be good if we had one central book swap shop ? Maybe someone with a business already set up that has a room to store books and charge [ I don't know ? ] 50 cents a swap for their own involvement ?

Love authors like ...Clive Cussler , Lee Child , Ken Follet , Wilbur Smith ,John Grisham , Chris Ryan , Robert Crais ,  Jack Higgins , Tom Grace , Robert Goddard , Jeffery Archer , Robert Ludlum , James Patterson , Ian Rankin , Harlan Coben , Stephen Coonts , Jeffery Deaver , Simon Kernick .....

Maybe too ambitious a project , just a thought , I just like to read

Same here John... we can`t get books fast enough... I know a kindle is the way forward but I prefer the feel of a real book. I am reading Inca Gold by Clive Cussler at the moment... well not at this precise moment... but you know what I mean!

We have loads of titles by the authors you have mentioned, maybe we should get together and swap.

Down here in the south we do coffee morning book swaps about 10-20 girls get together have a coffee and a chat and go home with new books to read maybe others could start doing this too will let anyone know when the next one is if your interested

Sounds like a good idea , although I have about 16 books yet to read , so maybe a raincheck for a while ?
Haven't read Inca Gold , but have read Spartan Gold and just finished Arctic Drift ........Sahara is another good un....much better than the film that was made from it .

Well get reading John! Do`nt know about you but I ALWAYS think the book is better than the resulting film... thanks of course to my wierd powers of imagination... I give all the characters accents!!!

Nicholas Gage was talking about when Eleni was made into a film. He was told that on average film makers only use 10% of a book in a film.

Hi Trisa ,

If that is the case I can't see the point in making a film from the book . 90% is going to be the producers take on the plot ..that's just stealing ideas from a talented author .

But , Hey , that's showbusiness 

I'll stick to reading , might even take Angies advice to spice it up a bit by imagining accents 

They broke the mould when they made you Angie , how  does Chris keep up , you wear me out just reading your comments .

I caught a glimpse of this place being set up from the window of the car taking me to the airport at the end of last summer's stay in Corfu. It is near the Cavalieri Hotel. Forgot all about it until I saw this mention in John's Corfu World blog (http://johncorfuworld.blogspot.com), which is also worth reading.

With so many bookstores (RIP Lycoudis...) closed in Corfu town, they fill a real need and I hope they prosper.

Coffee and Books looks great but I love Plous- Nik. Theotoki Street on right on the slope leading down to the port- also does Corfu.

Every Thursday morning about 11am Argo in Benitses has a coffee and book swap session.  Ann makes homemade cakes and offers tea, coffee, or hor chocolate (very welcome on  this cold morning today!)
