Corfu Banquet.......
« on: February 24, 2012, 10:41:38 AM »
by Emma Tennant.

Emma's parents built a house on Corfu; Rovinia (Liapades way I believe). This is also a story book around the house and the seasons of Corfu. It entwines recipes and original paintings with fond recollections in prose.

One critic wrote of this book " exercise caution when reading this book - it's likely to induce a serious longing to hop on the next flight to Greece".

I liked this book infinitely more than the first book.

There are also some really good recipes in here. I had to write my own contents page in the front of the book though as I could never find the recipe I wanted! It'a a little like A Kitchen in Corfu but she writes about the west of the island rather than the east.

Worth buying!

I have had this book for about five years now and love the Winter Recipes section especially the caramelised oranges which we always have in abundance here.
It also made me aware that the strawberry tree fruit (Koumara) was edible and our mountain is full of them.
