Butchers
« on: April 17, 2015, 12:38:59 PM »
Now that Darryl has closed his shop in Perithia (that's right isn't it?), where's the best place to buy meat?  I know the supermarkets in Acharavi and Kassiopi have a good range but would prefer to buy from a local shop.  Some help with ordering would be appreciated as I'm determined to try to use a little Greek this year!!   :D

We use the butcher in Diellas in Acharavi now and Bob and he now have quite a rapport! He's pretty good. There is a butcher opposite Diellas who I believe used to have the butcher shop in Peritheia before Darryl. The butchers in Dimitra is also good as is their deli.

I spent probably two years asking a butcher for half a kilo of waves instead of half a kilo of mince. No one corrected me but they knew what I meant. (Kύμα as in wave in the sea. Kιμάς for the minced meat version. I was pronouncing it with the accent in the wrong place! Easily done! :-[ :-[ )

These are helpful -  Beef http://goo.gl/taKI5c, Pork http://goo.gl/pk5OBC and Lamb http://goo.gl/ASNTpD

Thanks, Tricia. We've shopped for meat in Diellas before and found the chap there to be very friendly and helpful. I'll remember what you said about asking for mince!!!  ;)
